A Summer of Free Movies in Dallas & Fort Worth

Finding fun and exciting ways to keep you children and family entertained during the summer months can not only being challenging, but it can also put a dent  in your wallet.

With blockbuster movies like X-Men: First Class, Transformers and the new Harry Potter film hitting the big screen this summer and ticket prices costing more than $10 in area theaters, you will be happy to know about these free movie showings taking place in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Half Price Books Movies

Half Price Books presents Movies in the Parking Lot.  This series of free movies and family fun starts June 4 and continues every other week all summer long. Movies are shown in the parking lot at Half Price Books Store located at 5803 E. Northwest Hwy in Dallas.

Feel free to bring friends, family, folding chairs and a cooler.  Movies start at 8:45 pm.

June 18 – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1

July 2 – E.T.

July 16 –  Sherlock Holmes

July 30 – Star Trek

August 13 – The Incredibles

August 27 – The Chronicles of Narnia – The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe

Stars under the Stars in Sundance Square

The 2011 outdoor movie series titled “Stars under the Stars” kicks off in June with a star-studded line up of movies.  Watch features on a giant 40′ x 20′ airscreen located on the Chisholm Trail Parking Lot (Main Street at 4th Street).  Showtime is at dusk (around 9 p.m.) and admission is FREE!

Bring your own blankets or folding chairs or you can rent folding chairs for $2.  Arrive early (8 p.m.) and have your own action-packed adventure on the rock climbing wall.

A Sundance Square “snack bar”area will be open featuring beverages, popcorn, and sweets. “To-go” food items from Sundance Square restaurants may be brought onto the lot but do not bring other outside food, drinks or coolers.  Parking is FREE after 5 p.m. at all Sundance Square parking lots and garages.

Irving Public Library Summer Movie Series

The Irving Public Library has three movie series that will to appeal to your entire family.

Teen Movies Martial Arts Movie Marathon

June 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm Get a kick out of the action-packed Martial Arts movie marathon.  Enjoy back-to-back martial arts movies on the big screen, along with free popcorn and drinks.
