Summer in the City: Free Movies & more

The kids are out of school, you are looking for ways to keep them active and entertained.  Watch The Blind Side for FREE  in Sundance Square or learn about the wonders of science and nature at Discovery Camp at the Museum of Nature & Science. There are plenty of family oriented events in DFW that are free or low-cost. Sundance Square’s “Stars under the Stars”

Come out and join enjoy “Stars under the Stars,”  in Sundance Square’s, outdoor movie series.  The series continues tonight with  The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock in her Oscar-winning role. Bring  all your family and friends to this FREE family friendly event, located in downtown Fort Worth. You are welcome to  bring blankets or lawn chairs. Folding chairs will also be available for rental. Showtime is at dusk. Movie is shown on the Chisholm Trail Parking Lot. I

There will be lots of drinks and sweet treats available for purchase at the Sundance Square “snack bar” so don’t  bring in any outside coolers, drinks or food. Free parking is also available at all Sundance Square lots and parking garages after 5 p.m. Due to the large crowds and abrupt loudness of the movie, please leave your  pets at home.

How does recycling work? Why do animals go extinct? These are some of the questions your children ask you. Enroll them in the Discovery Camp at the Museum of Nature & Science. Programs like Eco-Explorers will answer those questions and more, while teaching your kids the wonders of science and natures in a way that is totally fun. In programs like  Rome Around the World, where your kids will learn about ancient cultures and civilizations, Robotics, in which they will actually build a robot and others will engage  your children’s minds with hands on experiments and activities.

Discovery Camp at the Museum of Nature & Science is unlike any other. From June through August, each week is a different topic and destination for campers. Kid will have the opportunity to go back in time, journey underground, delve into watery wonderlands, look at the very, very big, sneak a peek at the tiniest of them all, and seek out the science that surrounds us everywhere. And did I mention the one-of-a-kind crafts, experiments, and activities packed into each day? Doesn’t it sound like fun!

Camp sessions are designed with age appropriate activities and experiences for specific age groups to maximize your child’s experience. *Children must be in grades K-6 for 2010-2011 school year.
