Thanksgiving dinner at  Craft | Dallas will start with Spiced Pumpkin Soup with Crème Fraîche & Pumpkin Seed and Frisée Salad with Apple Wood Bacon, Chestnuts and  Black Truffle. For the main course, you have your choice of Organic Free Range Turkey, Prime Rib of Beef or Roasted Scottish Salmon. Side dishes will be served family style, including: Sweet Potato Purée, Roasted Autumn Vegetables, Sausage Raisin Fennel Stuffing, Sautéed Assorted Mushrooms and Cranberry Sauce. The incredibly wonderful Charlie Palmer’s at The Joule Dallas is serving Thanksgiving Brunch from  11:00 am to 3:00 pm, featuring Toad in a Hole, Grilled Fig Salad, Carmelized Texas Turkey Breast, Sweet Potato Shepherd’s Pies, Eggs Benedict, Peanut Butter Banana French Toast, Shiner Bock Glazed Ham and Grilled Pork Loin.

The Big Red at The Joule Dallas

The Joule Dallas is hosting a spectacular event this weekend called The Big Red. From Friday, November 5th to Sunday, November 7th, 2010, wine lovers can participate in culinary and wine tasting events benefiting the North Texas Food Bank.

Celebrity Chefs, Sommeliers and food and wine enthusiasts from across the country will come together to celebrate Texas wines and culinary delights in this one-of-a-kind epicurean weekend. The Big Red event will include a cooking competition between Charlie Palmer and Dean Fearing against Bryan and Michael Voltaggio, a wine tasting competition against area sommeliers, a food competition amongst the top chefs in Dallas, and a gala on Saturday evening.

Taste of The Big Red

The Big Red kicks off with wine lovers sampling wines from 20 Texas wineries. The wine tastings are served with dishes Charlie Palmer at The Joule Dallas and local restaurants including; York Street, Fearing’s, Craft, Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck, Abacus, Stephan Pyles, Bonnell’s, Salum and Top Chef Brothers Bryan and Michael Voltaggio. Live music will be performed by Somebody’s Darling, Boys Named Sue, and Grant Jones & The Pistol Grip Lassos.

Don’t miss The Big Red Hoe-Down. Each Sommelier enters the room with three of his favorite Texas red wines. The Sommeliers will have to sell you on their wine choices and dish it out in a head-to-head pitch contest followed by a tasting where you decide by ‘popular vote’.

In Search of the Best Brunch in DFW

Last week, during a luncheon with other Dallas Concierges, we were discussing our favorite restaurants for breakfast and brunch in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. ‘Who has the best bacon…where do they serve the best Mimosa…who makes the best pancakes‘?It occurred to me, the best brunch I’ve eaten was at a little cafe in Albuquerque, NM. That  is when I decided to go on a search for the best brunch in DFW.

What Makes a Good Brunch?

Brunch is the delightful combination of breakfast and lunch. It will often include all of your breakfast favorites like bacon, pancakes, omelets and waffles; but also have a variety of other items like quiche, steak, seafood and vegetables. Mimosas, Bloody Marys and Bellinis are other factors that make brunch so popular with many people. Brunch is generally served later in the morning, with most Sunday brunches starting at 10:00 AM and going until 3:00 PM.

These are a few of the suggestions I have received so far. Over the next few weeks, I will give you the details of each of these restaurants as I embark on the search for the ‘Best Brunch in DFW‘.
