Get ready! The State Fair is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2011, and it’s going to be a birthday bash to remember. All your old State Fair favorites will be back – corny dogs, the pig races, the Auto Show, and there will be plenty of new rides, musical acts and other attractions too.
Cirque Shanghai will feature a 22-member, Chinese acrobat troupe that will amaze you with their skills and feats. The Hall of State presents Texas!, an exhibit celebrating the history of Texas. The exhibit will include Davy Crockett’s pipe and pistol, Santa Anna’s spurs and vest and a life-sized replica of the Alamo.
Be there when Randy Travis, KC & the Sunshine Band and Finger Eleven perform on the Chevy Main Stage. Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, La Mafia and Hanson are just a few of the other acts that will be performing.
The Children’s Medical Center Barnyard, Farmer Mike the pumpkin carver, Birds of the World show, Illumination Sensation light display and the Texas Skyway aerial ride will all be back. And the food. Oh, the food! Along with Fletcher’s Corny Dogs, turkey legs and lemonade, there will be a smorgasbord of new fried treats to try.
